For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by how things are put together. When I was 2 or 3 I completely dismantled my dad's alarm clock- just to see how it was put together. I was a little panicked when I couldn't put it together again. Seriously, I remember every detail of that moment. The smell of the metals, plastics, and fear of being caught. Yes, fear has a scent- especially in memory. :) My mom was really awesome about it- she laughed and called my dad. He, well, he had to get another alarm clock.

There has always been this curiosity about gadgets, furniture, vehicles, human beings (minus the bodily fluids), clothing, etc... You get the drift. This also applies to how outfits and rooms are put together. I hate shopping- but love seeing the art of fashion. I am not a clothes-horse, perhaps a mini shoe-horse, but how and why people combine things is intriguing. My current obsession is with interior design and music. So, I have a more age appropriate project to take apart and try to put together. My bathroom.

In my house, design/home magazines are referred to as 'house porn'. It makes sense, because it is full of pictures that leave you breathless and coveting/lusting after that which you cannot/should not have. Forever disappointed with the real thing. ;) I love my home. Really I do. My bathroom? Not. at. all. Especially after looking through well over 1000 of the aforementioned magazines. HouseBeautiful, Traditional Home, Lonny, and numerous design blogs!! how I love thee! I digress... I am also prone to starting ideas and never getting around to finishing them. Thankfully, this is not one of those victims! (more to come!!!) :) Where was I??? Oh, yes, bathroom project and following through. So, I thought that if I commit myself on my blog- I will finish...even if I don't post after pictures. (Remember I have unrealistic expectations from my magazine habit. If it doesn't measure up- I will just keep my reality to myself.) However, the items I plan on using are fabulous all by themselves. So, here are a few of the pieces of my new puzzle I am making....

Had my very first photo shoot today...Wore this dress and had a lot of fun! I also wore some more relaxed clothing...but I just wanted to show off the dress first. Umm...not hat though.

My Paul was incredible :) I am the luckiest woman in the world! It was just as much to his credit that this all worked out today. He is my greatest support- I couldn't do this as easily without him. He is my everything. I would make a list, but he wouldn't like that. Let's just say that he makes my world turn with a little more finesse and happiness. You should see him move my hair... When I get the behind-the-scenes you'll see what I mean...I loved it- it was very funny :) My children were awesome to put up with all the hot weather while we played with the light and shadow, and freaking out a homeowner who had fabulous trees!

I will post the pics when I can....I think the day made me tired though ;) This is me now--definitely time to get cozy with my pillow....

For the first time in my life I don't know what to call myself.

At this age I think it is funny to find myself in this position...

I am about to release my music to the world and wonder what I should call myself.

To me it doesn't matter, but do names matter when you are deciding if

you'll listen or buy a new artists album?

That's what I'm wondering.

My music, my voice, my face, myself- they will not change, but will my "name" invite listeners?

Other artists came to this decision long ago...I suppose I was just happy to sing-

the name was immaterial.

So....should I put ideas out there for a vote or let you pass this along to others,

who know me, and see what y'all come up with?

I know, it is such a milestone! (LOL!)

Tonight we recorded the first song's vocals...I haven't been in a recording studio in so long!
I had forgotten how much fun it is. I had a ball!

What I love most is that the songs are all originals.

This was quite the salon experience.

First, I had my hair done-

which was exceptional because she brushed my hair until I fell asleep.

Bows and flowers were lovingly forced into my scalp...this did end the nap.

The squeals of laughter and glee followed my howls of pain.

I'm thinking she planned this all along.

To calm my nerves, she asked me to close my eyes while she applied hot pink nail polish.

On the light beige carpet.

1...2...3...breathe.

Okay, but only if I can hold the bottle of polish.

My nails are fab and I couldn't find any pink when she dropped the brush on the floor.

Finally we moved on to the professional makeup application.

HER make-up.

It really tickled--all that glitter :)

She is such a darling little 9 year-old.

I highly recommend her-

It's worth it just to hear her giggle after she says "oops!"

We had a wonderful weekend :)
Celia had her birthday dinner at Medieval Times.
She was crowned THE Princess of the Black and White Knight.
(Who was quite dashing btw...)
Afterwards she met him and was bright red when he called her "sweetie"...
She had him charmed with one look.
Heaven help any man...
I am shocked she is 9 already.

We had a WONDERFUL visit with Karen Carter-
It was fantastic to have her with us in our craziness!
I love Love LOVE her :)
She gifted us with her wonderful presence and with her beautiful music.

We hope you can all come play next time.

The weekend was so fabulous that it has rendered me speechless!
My children are thrilled with the complete absence of my voice.

Today I found a silver among the auburn gold that was 16 inches long...how it survived that long without me noticing is surprising. I have been lucky to withstand for so long...I think I'm up to 10 now. What a strange thing aging is. It is a very personal experience- one that I am ill equipped to handle. Every new fine line, rogue hair, and skin that longs for southerly gravitational pulls to cease, forces me to admit that I have passed my youth on for my children to experience without me.

I just get to watch now...

I wonder what her secret is.
I'm pretty certain that she has found the source of holy joy,
because even her husband (they've been married for almost 20 years) says that he has never seen her anything other than happy...
I need to find that place.

I might be blissfully blinded by love,

I have been blessed with him by my side for almost 16 years of marriage.

that alone is cause for happiness.

Shimmering soft petals sooth and caress any weariness.

They bloom after being exposed to the weather and blistering sun--

they thrive from the challenges that envelope and ironically sustain them.

They have a much better attitude than I.

I think my friend has learned that lesson well.

Maybe she has peonies and roses too....

Perhaps her garden taught her this.

I am still learning how to bloom with grace, beauty, and joy in my garden.

Most of you know that I participate in the Easter Cantata- "Love's Greatest Gift" every year for Easter. It is part of who I am. I am always honored and humbled to have a chance to experience this work. My friend, John Carter, posted his piano piece from the Cantata. It is called "The Great Storm". This is the storm, destruction, and the three days of darkness that followed Christ's crucifiction. It is very moving- I never get tired of listening to it- it stirs my soul every time. Thank you John for your gift of music.

when he looked down at his feet...

Winter Break

What a furious week it has been.
It wasn't mad, nope, it was bone-blistering fast!
I love it when my children are home from school- even when an unauthorized haircut occurs. (More on that later.)
It was started early because of the snow- we had a wonderful time being together, going to the lake house with my very dear friend, playing in the snow, slamming Paul into a buried rock while I whipped him over the snow from a sled connected to the back of our ATV (a little redneck is good)(the crash wasn't a good thing, but I can't forget to mention my inadvertent abuse of my near-perfect husband, who would never have done that to me- I have to say near-perfect, because if he was completely, I would be alone and I would be very sad- so I won't admit he is so I can keep him with me until I figure out how to be just like him- I love it that he doesn't have admin. access to this blog, lol- I could type anything and he can't change it!!!) - may he walk without limping soon, and relaxing as the snow continued to fall while we enjoyed a Friday without the world interfering, oh and Paul's knees are very bruised :'(

Saturday, well, I already posted about that day :) Next time, we're gonna try the kayak.

The rest of the break was spent eating lots of Valentine chocolate, going to the book store (have new temptations to read), watching the Percy Jackson movie (Book is always better), cleaning bedrooms :), watching two fantastic daughters of God get baptized, going to the Atlanta Aquarium (never gets old), looking for an escaped zebra in downtown Atlanta, going to the circus (where one zebra looked wildly about for another escape- yes, it is related Yep, There Really Was Zebra On The Connector - 11Alive.com | WXIA | Atlanta, GA), going to Hobby Lobby to get crafts (that we still haven't started), spending the weekend either sleeping on an aircraft carrier (Paul and Dallin), playing at the lake house (the rest of us), talking with my dear friend Autumn (love her), going to dinner with sweet friends (love them), trying to find ways to fix Celia's hair so that I don't have to have it all cut off (I'll write about this later- I'm still getting myself together), and wishing my kids could stay with me always- I really do love it when they are home with me- even if they are annoying me to complete insanity.

A huge thank you to Autumn for watching the kiddos so Paul and I could go on a date for Valentines day- I love gazing at him across a candle lit table, live jazz music floating on the air, and though the room is filled with people and conversations, only he and I exist--forever. I am lost and found in those blue eyes.

Every once-in-a-while, this white stuff is okay. We all had a lot of fun. There was almost 6 inches- most decent amount in the 6-1/2 years we've lived here.

We haven't been sledding in 5 years- everyone thought it was great. The kids kept saying that it was just like Utah- and if you squinted really hard you could almost imagine it, but then we saw a family using a kayak as a sled, and it was just too much proof that we live in a state filled with rednecks and very little exposure to the white fluffy stuff. After the kayak, I was keeping my eyes peeled for a truck hood sled, or something like that. It was really funny anyway, and we were the only ones with real sleds, hats, coats, scarves, and mittens- they looked at us with envy :-D.
Another thing that I love about the south is their hysterical reaction to pending snow storms. School was cancelled 18 hours before it was even forecasted to arrive (not til 2 pm the next day) and everyone rushes to the store and buys 2 months worth of milk, juice, and bread- what do you think they do with all of it when the snow melts 12 hours later? Anyway, it was great fun all the way around.

Today I have been preparing a lesson for the young women of my ward. It has stirred up many feelings of missed opportunity and blindness. Perhaps it's my own doing, perhaps not, but those feelings are there nevertheless. I will start by saying that I was given a wonderful gift- music. My patriarchal blessing talks of it and all that it is meant for- in great detail- I have not realized any of it. I pray that the Lord is merciful to late bloomers. Vocally, I am not, but in every other aspect, I am. It has taken me years to realize many things that everyone else grasped when they were young. If I possessed the level of confidence I have now when I was young- my world would have turned differently. I would still be blessed with Paul and our children- and if I died today, I would not regret a moment of choosing them- I just think they don't get the full potential of me. It seems as though I have been coasting through life waiting for things to happen instead of being the catalyst for opportunities.

What is at the core of all this?

Never Ever wait to try.

I am driving myself crazy. Do you ever have those dreams where you are trying to fit through a really small space because on the other side is where you're supposed to be? You spend the whole night repeating this dream until your mind is weary from the mental strain of finding no logical solution...
What do you do when you have something you want so bad, but have no idea what shape, form, or nature it should be...?
This is when I would LOVE to have the blessed direction blaze like a bonfire before me-
I am treading quicksand that is housed within a rapidly diminishing timeline.
Sometimes I feel trapped inside myself.

I've spent the last 30 minutes writing and deleting. There are so many things I want to say, and maybe I should, but I will leave it to just a few.

Every day, whether we are healthy or not, is a gift and should be treasured and remembered.
Happiness is not spread or nurtured through complaining or criticizing. It flourishes in acts of kindness, selflessness, and more often than not, turning the other cheek or (another cliche) turning a blind eye.
I don't believe in ignoring problems, but I don't believe in dwelling on them either. So fix what you can control and pray to God for what you cannot.
Life is not long enough to be miserable, lonely, afraid, mean, unkind, apathetic, or self-absorbed.
For 2009 we lived, loved, and said good-bye to Paul's mom. She was beautiful.
Life is far too precious to waste on trivial things.
Love with all your heart in 2010.
Live without regret.
Make every day your best.

While we were eating dinner, the topic of magic came up. Real or no?

What magicians do and mythological persons do is not magic- it is entertaining trickery. However, my mom was magic.

She made the holidays sparkle with wonder and mystery.

She made the mundane glitter too.

She was a master with making traditions & memories-

They are still vividly alive in my mind.

Her laughter was probably the most magical of all.

You could not escape its affect.

It rolls through the halls, rooms, corridors, gardens, valleys, canyons, oceans, and quiet places in my mind.

Christmas carols were always playing.

We had a very quiet and relaxing holiday weekend.
Originally, we were going to go to Hawaii to be with my sister and her family, but the fares were crazy (sniff- I really wanted to see her)! I will have to wait to feel the vog in my hair...

Because this year has been a little rocky, we thought that a quiet Thanksgiving at the lake would be perfect- it was. Thank you to all who invited us to their homes.

We have so much to be thankful for: The love and memories of Kathie, her raisin cookies (clam chowder, bread, pies, candy, the list is endless), love of literature, movies, being prepared, and her great thirst for knowledge. She loved us, and gave me her sunshine boy- I will be eternally indebted for this alone. We love and miss her.

Thanksgiving’s heart is with our mothers. Paul and I were talking about this- the spirit of Thanksgiving is mom in the kitchen, baking, singing, laughing, telling stories, creating culinary memories---

How keenly I miss mine. It makes the back of my throat ache and my arms long to hug her...I yearn to hear her speak my name, to laugh, to give me advice, or to just sit and listen... I really miss you Momma. I love you forever.

So grateful for all they gave and sacrificed for our families.

Grateful for our dads. Mine has always been my dear friend. I love you daddy- thank you for everything...there’s so much there. Thank you for your labor of love for our comfort and happiness. You are always my superman :) So grateful for your happiness. Thank you Wendy, you are beautiful.

Thank you Ray for your love and support. Thank you for raising a wonderful man. I love you.

For a world that is full of music and great beauty- so thankful.

I love my beautiful sisters. Grateful for their patience and long-suffering when I was a much meaner version of my current self. What amazing women you have become. I adore and look up to you. Can we tell happier stories of me now??? Do they exist?

Dallin being a teenager. I can’t believe I typed that. We are beholden to the Creator for everything this boys does- as we all are for everything that we do, but Dallin is a living reminder to me of miracles- God does listen, love, and is constantly involved in every minute aspect of our lives. How deeply He loves us- How deeply concerned He is for us in all that we do, and in all that happens within and around us. I am so grateful for Dallin. He is becoming a very spiritually perceptive young man. His dreams will change the world.

For having a fantastic young man named Andrew. Sometimes I think he feels shafted being #2 of 4. He is such a well-behaved boy that he tends to blend in. He has taught me more of what it is to truly be a mother. He reminds me so much of Paul- he has a marvelous life ahead of him. He is spectacular. And he will move mountains.

I am grateful for Celia. Her name means radiant- she is. Of all the people of this world, she feels so much for others and their feelings. Her depth for compassion is a gift. If she could heal the whole world, she would. When I had her, I was so afraid that I would mess up a daughter...she is such a tender, gentle one- I am a little more utilitarian-- the things I have learned from her- she has changed the way I feel. Especially about pink...

Lilian-- I am amazed at all she does in 1 minute- She can be 1/4 mile away, changed outfit, left water running, and finger nail polish on the carpet. If we can get her to channel her energy and determination, the world will be rocked to its foundation. They certainly broke the mold when she came into this life. Lilian has full use of her fingers. What a great blessing to live in this time where doctors have the ability to reattach tiny little fingers and nail beds, and have it done while she could rest from the trauma and pain. Her fingers will do many things- we’re so glad she gets to use them all. I have been blessed by having 4 angels in my life.

Paul. There are many things that I should say, that I want to say, but I know he reads my blog, and I will respect his need for privacy. He gives us his very, very best. He was made for me. I can be loved by no other. My heaven is with him. I love our life together. My soulmate. Forever.

This post could be even longer, but I will spare you further reading. The last thing is my gratitude to God. As a parent there are so many times when I want to save my children from unpleasant and painful things, but I know that if I do, then they will never learn and never really enjoy life. I am certain that is how our Father in Heaven feels. He doesn't want us to be sorrowful, sick, or pained in any way, but he can't stop life from happening- it shapes us into who we are. I am grateful for what he has allowed in my life, I am a stronger person because of it. I am so grateful for His love.

I woke up this morning feeling really confused. Where was I? How come someone is talking about world events? Why are they in the room? Where are my arms and legs? Who turned on the lights?

Then I realized that I was awake, in my bed, the alarm was on, but my brain was upside down.

Have you ever experienced this? Your thoughts move slowly, and are often in reverse, your eyes refuse to stay open, and roll involuntarily to stare at the inside of your skull, the limbs you went to sleep with refuse to even acknowledge your nerve impulses to move (just 5 more minutes Mom. And when they do move, it's like watching a kid go up to clean their room), it takes 5 times as long to get the thought from your brain to your lips (and even then it's not guaranteed to be what you intended it to be)... Ahh- what 2 hours sleep does for the cognitive juices- WHY do I do this???

I will tell you why.

Halloween Candy + Me =

Okay, I admit it- I am a candy addict. I could write a post detailing how lovely I think these confections are, but I won't because it will make me eat even more. The past two Sundays I've given lessons to the YW on the Word of Wisdom (it's way more than no coffee, tea, alcohol or drugs!)...Oh how glad I was that there wasn't a lightning storm in the area! So, I am going to take a none-to-subtle hint from my candy jar (see above picture- I love my candy jar, unfortunately, it does nothing to curb my insatiable appetite for sweets.) & the fact that there is a tropical storm passing overhead... I am going to throw them all away...sniff...all 500 pieces...they will sit in a landfill crying my name as they melt, are eaten by raccoons, possums, crows, and MANY insects...but I will not eat THESE candies- my pancreas will thank me while we are sweet free for another 2 weeks. I can't wait for pumpkin pie and all the Christmas goodies that follow :) Thankfully, they won't be in a skull to remind me how bad they are for me. I will eat in guilt-free heaven (until I go to wear my favorite Christmas dress...).

So what do you do when a balloon gets stuck on your ceiling? (That's 18 feet above your head.)

Last night, after we returned from stake choir practice, the kids were playing with balloons. Big D turned the fan on and wrapped the string completely around the light (it's about 12 feet from the ground). Paul and I spent about 10 minutes getting that down- short people (me) were not made for vaulted ceilings or balloon retrieval.

Anyway, CeeCee let her balloon go, and she didn't want us to leave it up there.

Did you know that spit wads DO NOT bring balloons down?

Did you know that spit wads DO NOT fall from the ceiling?

Did you know that spit wads DO dry on the ceiling?

Did you know that spit wads ARE a permanent decorative accessory in my living room?

Did you know that spit wads WERE my husbands idea?

There is a piece of tape on the ceiling too, but at least I know that its stickiness is NOT saliva.

My Beautiful Insanity

I have finally embraced who I really am.

It's very liberating...

really.

I have been watching my kindlings, especially NeNe, and have decided that I will hide no longer.

NeNe has NO inhibitions at all- none, nada, zilch. When I grow up, I want to be just like her. I'm not saying I want to go sans clothing- I just love how wide open she is to all that she sees, feels, hears, and says. She says amazing things. Her destructive tendencies... she does mayhem with a beautiful smile & unapologetic spirit. (It's just a very elaborate method of getting my attention.) I love how free and beautiful kindlings are- it's inspiring. I love it that I can be surrounded by them. Even if I am losing my mind.

Yesterday, after picking up A&W and CeeCee, I waited impatiently behind a lady who thought the school pick up line exit had a speed limit of 5mph. I sighed with frustrated relief when it was clear she would be turning right. I stopped and waited for my chance to turn left. (It should be noted that I have been taking and picking my kids up from this school for the past 6 years, so clearly I understand and remember the drill.) I looked to my left- no cars. I looked to my right- no cars. For added measure, I looked to my left again- nothing. I gunned the car (you know that in my next life, I want to be a NASCAR driver right?!?) I am turning when I hear this lady screaming- SCREAMING!

“HEYHEYHEYHEY!!!!! HHHHHEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!”

Simultaneously I see a woman RUNNING out of the way of this car that surrounds me. ME- not somebody else- me. I hear the most robotic voice say-

“Sorry I didn’t see you- I didn’t even seen you.”

The robot was so calm and unaffected. I was mortified that this voice could sound so cold- and that it belonged to me!

I am completely horrified- i almost ran over our cross-guard lady. one moment she wasn’t there- the next, it looks like i am chasing her down. Maybe I have pent up aggression towards her for all the times she’s made traffic a logjam in the mornings and my other personalities decided to blind me to the presence of a lone figure trying to direct traffic... it’s quite simple- i am going crazy, because I swear she wasn’t there- even though she’s been “there” for the past 10 years!!!

So this morning, I snuck past her when I took the kindlings to school. When I was leaving, I avoided all eye contact and felt that familiar feeling of “out-of-sight-out-of-mind”. Kind-of like when you’d been somewhere you weren’t supposed to be and you’d slink back into the house- keeping a low profile so that your parents wouldn’t notice. It was probably just as “effective” too. Big D wasn’t fooled either- he told me I should have turned right and driven a 2 & a-half mile “detour” to drop him off at the middle school 200’ down the road. He’s right, I would have been undetected, but I can’t do that for the next 7 months. I told myself that I need to be brave, act like an adult, admit that everyone makes mistakes and move on. So I didn’t “hide”. Umm...This afternoon, I made my Paul pick them up in his truck. My nerve only stays around for so long.

So I am going to adopt NeNe’s way of life. I will combine my crazy with her beautiful freedom from guilt. Hence the title “My Beautiful Insanity”. We’ll see what other exciting adventures await. Who knows, you may just see me on America’s Most Wanted or other variations on “America’s”...

Tonight my friend's daughter was baptized. Celia was asked to give the closing prayer and I was asked to sing "I am a Child of God". The baptism started at 7:00- I remembered at 7:50. This ranks among my more stupid moments. Her entire family (who are not members) attended- and she specifically asked me to sing so that her family would be touched. I know that the Lord touches peoples' hearts through His own power- the messenger does not matter, but she was counting on me. I am so sorry. I have NEVER done something like this. I called and left a message of apology, but I still feel awful. I hope I didn't tarnish this very special moment in their lives. May the knowledge and memories of her baptism be what they always remember.

I just need to vent for a moment.... I just had a great voice lesson- I excitedly pressed the playback button so I could listen to it and hear myself doing these lessons correctly. Guess what?!?!?! Nothing. You probably just feel like patting me on the head and telling me "that's too bad Heather- there are bigger problems out there..." I know. but SHOOT! I was so excited to practice! Can you imagine that? LOL I was so looking forward to nailing all those exercises. Oh well. Hopefully, I'll make due and progress anyway.

In Over My Head

So last weekend, I decided that I have waited long enough to make one of my biggest dreams a reality. (Actually, I thought that way before, but I digress...) I want to be a recording artist- there I have now announced it to the world (well, my world anyway) and I need to vent because I am completely overwhelmed over where I should begin. I was told I need a fan base- hello! I am a mother of 4 kids- are we even allowed to be liked? Then I was told I need to market myself- I shop every week- doesn't that count? I also don't think it would look good to finish singing in sacrament meeting or stake conference and then say- hey, come visit my website and download my newest cover songs for your listening enjoyment- and I can also be found on itunes. PLEASE tell all your friends and family! Makes great stocking stuffers... No I don't think that would go over very well in a LDS environment. *Sigh* I have a feeling that I am going to have to work hard for this- no miraculous discovery out of obscurity... I am not saying I would like to be HUGE- I'm too old for that (youth sells longer) But I would like to bring some happiness to a few 100,000 or so people- money is not my motivation (it would be enough for my producers to make money (otherwise I am not worthwhile to them), but I just love to perform and bring a song to life.) I am really just babbling so that I can fall asleep. I haven't slept well since I got these 3000 ideas, check lists, questions, and songs running through my head. Like, what genre am I????? I love to sing everything, but they're telling me I have to choose so that people will know what to expect from me. WHY didn't I have a brain when I was a teenager? In my 20s? Do the LDS singer/songwriters really want to sound like everyone else in the LDS market? Are Mormon listeners really that restrictive in what they think is appropriate for contemporary lds music? Is it time to shake up the Christian music world? The LDS music world? My world? Who would like to be my conscience? I need Jiminy Cricket...*whistle whistle whistle* (thanks for your indulgence)

Utah

Today my friend went to sleep forever in my arms. He turned 6 just last week. I usually don't let myself become too attached to pets, because I can't stand for them to die, but I got Utah under different circumstances. In 2004 Paul and I lost our baby at 16 weeks. On the due date, I adopted him- he was my "baby". He helped me in my grieving.

A month ago, he developed a severe fluid problem. I was hopeful that it had been fixed or was at least manageable. Unfortunately, it wasn't. He was an elegant cat with a loving and laid back personality. He loved affection and would seek it by standing on his hind legs and pushing his head into your hand. He came when I whistled or rubbed my fingers together.
We are glad that he has his tail back. I am sure that animals are in Heaven- otherwise, it's going to be a really boring place. Since they are His creation- I am certain Utah is there and quite happy.
I am thankful to Paul for taking all sorts of pictures of him- it makes me smile to see him.

My mother-in-law was a wonderfully fantastic brilliant woman. She still is. We will miss her so very much. She was a jill of all trades and was master of many. I love her.

My testimony of preparedness comes from her. My love of classical literature comes from her. She gave me one of her greatest treasures- Paul Alexander Shepherd. I am forever grateful for her.

It was Christmas last week. I had just finished eating lunch with Lilian, and decided I needed to go in my room. On the way there, I noticed a large white van outside- I thought, 'Who's van is that?' At that exact moment, I noticed a beautiful woman, handsome man, and super cute dog standing (well the dog was being held cause Willie was investigating) on my lawn. Suddenly, I hear this wild screaming while I am running to the door- Oh that was me!!! Audrey, Zak, and Caroline drove to my house!!!! It was one of my favorite birthday presents! I mean Christmas presents. I wish I could have kept them with me for much longer than a day ( I did manage to trap them with me for 9 hours) I just wanted everybody to know that I love my sister Audrey- she is so sweet to her very hermitish sister. Thank you for driving so long to see me and to bring me Momma's things. I love you. I hope you enjoyed your drive through the country- we LOVED having you with us :+)

What's so great about Georgia is that when it snows (skiffs) everything shuts down- that's right- no school. This is the first snow GA had in 5 years. It was March 1st, and it brought about 2-4 inches. My kids were very excited- especially Paul ;+). I, as you can see, wasn't that thrilled. But I didn't have to get up early the next day (school cancelled) so I was ok with it. But if it does it again, I might have to move to a more tropical location. Look closely at Andrew's "gloves". LOL!! Those are in case the snow has contaminants. jk. We really do have winter stuff- we just couldn't find it fast enough for him.

FYI- I will not be letting her out of the house when she gets older. She gets more beautiful every day. If she were just a pretty face, then it wouldn't be such a big deal, but she is even more beautiful inside. Did I mention that boys scare me? I hope her big brothers keep a close eye on her...
Anyway, we just got back from Utah yesterday and WOW did the trees explode while we were gone!
Congrats to my Dad and Wendy :) You two look so beauitful and happy. I miss everyone already. I love my family so much.

My What Pretty teeth you have!

A few months ago we thought we'd have a dental health demonstration. I have fond memories of disclosing tablets from elementary school. I remember that I liked to use them when we were trying to rush off to school- I couldn't understand my mother's irritation that I would use them in the morning. Can you imagine how wonderful my smile looked when I would have to go to school without brushing it off? AWESOME! Without further babbling- I give you our victims' mug shots.

Before- the newly brushed teeth- what secrets are you hiding?AHHHH! The horror! Do you think he really brushed? (did I mention this was a suprise inspection?- Oh man!)

Lilian isn't allowed to have red disclosing tablets- she'd find some way of destroying the house with it.

What you can all learn from this- is that you should always tell your parents the truth when they ask you if you've brushed your teeth.

I felt the world around me sigh in thrilled contentment on Sunday. I am so very happy for my sweet Dad and Wendy. Since my Mom's passing, Life has been like a child holding his breath. We've all been waiting for our lives to breathe again and now we can- my Dad has found Her :) I hope that makes sense- I am excited to meet Wendy- she has changed my Dad so much since they met. Congratulations!

I would like to say I am sorry to all Aretha Franklin fans and to Aretha herself. I entered a contest and won the "right" to perform on the main stage of our cruise ship. It was a lot of fun, but I really don't care for the wig!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, if you need a laugh- click play. My kids, Paul, and my Dad still talk to me, so I am happy :) I also think that my Mom might have been dancing too ;) I also need to add that I didn't have any choice about what song I could sing. They only had 4 female songs and Respect was the only one that was approachable for me. (See below post to see the other "options".)

Okay, so it's not exactly "Waldo", but can you find someone you know in this picture? There will be more "stuff" to follow. I now know why LDS people are "peculiar". It is because we can act like we're plastered when we are stone-cold-sober, and still think we have any dignity afterward. Everyone else got hammered after they embarrassed themselves.

We are very excited to announce that I finally (only had them 2 years) installed my drapes in the living room. I know, I know, it's too much excitement to take- just breathe with me and we will all make it through this life-changing event. Paul did it actually- he even put up crown moulding for me! Now I just have to ditch all the Christmas decorations and my living room will have achieved that elusive ZEN.
The kids went back to school today, and my house breathed a sigh of relief. I'm not quite sure why it did though, because Lilian is still here! It's nice having someone to blame my housekeeping inadequacies on- sorry Lilian- until you start using more words, that people can understand, I will use you as a scapegoat. Seriously, she is the most efficient hurricane I've ever seen.

We bought a new computer 2 months ago and we still haven't put our camera's software on. Sorry, I don't have any new pictures to post. With my track record-well- I'm not going to say when, because we all know how long that really takes (3 months at least). But I need to soon because #1 my drapes are fabulous! #2 my kids are cute #3 I love my drapes #4 I really love my family and want you to see how much they've "grown".

We had a wonderful time at the beach during our fall vacation. It was nice to just hang out, read, relax, do puzzles, eat, laugh, swim, play, build in the sand, fish, shop, and Paul took lots and lots of pictures. I promise I will post them by Friday (the 10th)...it's the 16th now- um maybe by next week. I am so busy with YW- I will do it soon.

Dallin, Andrew, and Celia are two days away from completing the first six weeks of school! Only 5 more 6-weeks to go until summer! Everybody has worked really hard in school. We are very pleased with their wonderful efforts. We are looking forward to a week off :))) Lilian is finally finding her voice with words- I will probably miss the "quiet". She's had no need to talk- she has 3 servants at her command- but since it's just the two of us during the day now, she doesn't get special treatment (well, she has to ask for things and talk to me). If you are up to it, the kids would like to answer any questions you have about them. Just leave it in the comments and they will respond. Next week, we will post some pictures of St. George Island- we are looking forward to some much needed R&R.
